Artifact types and templates
Open Admin → Artifact Types to control which kinds of artifacts appear in your workspace and what a new one looks like when it's created.
Turn a type on or off
The page shows a card for each artifact type, with its label and an example
reference ID (for example ACME-ADR-0000 if you've set an
artifact prefix).
- Find the type's card.
- Click its switch. Switched on, the type appears in the app sidebar; switched off, it's hidden from the sidebar for everyone.
Turning a type off doesn't delete anything. Existing artifacts of that type are kept, and switching the type back on brings it back to the sidebar.
Types that aren't included in your plan are listed below the line Upgrade your plan to use these artifacts. They're greyed out and can't be switched on.
Edit a type's template
Most types start new artifacts from a Markdown template, so authors get the right sections instead of a blank page. You can tailor each one to how your organization works.
- Click the cog icon on the type's card.
- Edit the Markdown in the template editor. The text is the starter content pre-filled into the body of every new artifact of that type.
- Click Save.
To go back to ArchForge's built-in template, open the same editor and click Reset to default. Click Cancel to close without saving.
Template changes only affect artifacts created afterwards. Existing artifacts keep their content.
